Anna Buhrmann graduated from McMaster with an Honours Bachelor of Arts & Science in 2021. She is a certified Emergency Medical Responder and worked for six months in 2019 as a Care Assistant Worker in an Ontario nursing home. This encounter inspired her to apply for the Renaissance Award with the goal of bearing witness to the stories of those living and working in long-term care.
